Bunnings Xmas Family Market Night

Bunnings hosted this event on Thursday 8th December starting at 6:00pm and finishing at 8:00pm in their basement car-park at the Balgowlah store. Through Wendy (thank you) we had been offered a community stand where we could try to attract new players to our club. I called for a volunteer or two to man this stand and hand out some $10 discount coupons to anyone who was interested in joining our social tennis. The volunteers needed to dress up in tennis gear and the club provided a banner, some tennis racquets and cans of tennis balls to place on our stand/table. Bunnings offered us a $100 voucher (or five $20 vouchers) if we attended the event. A big thank you to Heather and Yvonne for stepping up and being our volunteers at the stand on the Bunnings Xmas Family night. Although there weren’t many takers for social tennis (apparently it was very much targeted towards young children) we still scored $100 worth of vouchers for our Club. Well done ladies.
Danny.

Year End Arrangements for 2022

Hi Everyone, I have just spoken to Max at Voyager Tennis. He informs me that, whilst he himself will be away on holidays, the Wakehurst Tennis Centre will remain open over the Xmas and New Year period. The only days we will miss will be the two Sundays which fall on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Sunday, 25th December: No tennis Wednesday, 28th December: Tennis on Sunday, 1st January: No tennis Wednesday, 4th January: Tennis on Everything back to normal after this last date. Come out on the Wednesday nights you Sunday-only players and work off some of that Xmas pudding and New Year’s Day feasting. 😀 Danny.

Message From The President

Court Behaviour Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. People should keep to their own business.
Everyone comes to play tennis, enjoy their sport, have some exercise, social interaction and a break from day to day life.
While the majority of the men are stronger players than the majority of the women, due to physical factors, we are a mixed club of about equal number men and women. Some members have played all their life and were A graders, while others have taken the game up late in life.
People do not come for tennis lessons, criticisms of their play or the need to say sorry because they played a bad shot. There has been many occasions where a playing partner’s game has collapsed because of what their partner has said to them. Of course suggestions to your partner regarding positional play or something they are unaware of are part of the game.
We all like to play our best and win as many games as possible, especially so in the Round Robin, so let’s enjoy our tennis.
New Tennis Balls I have negotiated and bought today a $80 discount for Dunlop Australian Open Balls, which is a better price than the Topserve balls. These balls are one of the most popular, have a higher bounce and keep their compression longer. However that meant no gift vouchers. As we are getting older and slower we should enjoy this change, though it may decrease the effectiveness of my drop shot.
Warning A female member was given a warning regarding inappropriate behaviour. See you on the court. Cheers, Roy
