Handing on the Baton
We have had a changing of the guard at Wakehurst Tennis in the last year. Our long serving president and treasurer Warwick Bookallil stood down after 10 years in the role. At the annual general meeting earlier this year Wendy Sullivan was elected to the role of President. The club held a celebration to thank Warwick for his years of service to the club. During the evening the club presented Warwick with a plaque to commemorate his service. The picture in this post shows Wendy and Warwick with his plaque.

The 32nd Annual General Meeting of the Wakehurst Tennis Club will be held on Sunday the 25th of February, 2018 at 12.15pm at Wakehurst Golf Club, Seaforth.

Notes
All Members and Players of the Club are encouraged to attend the meeting. Only club members who are full financial members at the time of the meeting are entitled to vote. Only full club members who are present at the meeting are entitled to vote. No proxies will be accepted. The Committee/office bearers will consist of
- President/Treasurer
- Secretary
- Club Captain
- Social Secretary or secretaries
- The Vice Captains are by appointment only and help to direct play at the two sessions of tennis.
Year End Arrangements for 2017
As we come towards Christmas and the New Year we have some changes to the usual routine arrangements. As our usual courts at Wakehurst are closed for a little while we will be skipping some days over the next couple of weeks. Here are the arrangements for December 2016 and January 2017
- Wednesday 20th December normal tennis at Wakehurst
- Sunday 24th December – NO TENNIS
- Wednesday 27th December – NO TENNIS
- Sunday 31st December – NO TENNIS
- Wednesday 3rd January – back to normal tennis at Wakehurst
2017 Club Championships – Results
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2017 Club Championships. All of the divisions have now been completed and the results are as follows;
- Mens Singles Winner – Mike Marr 6-3 1-6 6-0 vs Lindsay Phillips
- Mens Doubles Winners – Mike Marr and Harald Grabner 6-0 6-0 vs Mosese Tea and Julian Cho
- Womens Singles Winner – Lisa Rush 6-3 6-3 vs Melinda Gray
- Womens Doubles Winners – Michelle Stevens and Lisa Rush 5-7 6-1 6-4 vs Julia Kia and Melinda Gray
- Mixed Doubles Winners – Lindsay Phillips and Stephanie Phillips 6-3 6-2 vs Anthony Thompson and Lisa Rush

As we come towards Christmas and the New Year we have some changes to the usual routine arrangements. As our usual courts at Wakehurst are either busy or closed we will be changing location or skipping some days over the next few weeks. Here are the arrangements for December 2016 and January 2017
- Sunday 18th December – Round Robin at Belrose
- Wednesday 21st December normal tennis at Wakehurst
- Sunday 25th December – NO TENNIS
- Wednesday 28th December – NO TENNIS
- Sunday 1st January – NO TENNIS
- Wednesday 4th January – normal tennis at Wakehurst
- Sunday 8th January – Tennis at Belrose as Wakehurst are running a tournament
- Wednesday 11th January – NO TENNIS as the Wakehurst tournament continues and Belrose is not available to us
- Sunday 15th January – back to normal tennis at Wakehurst
