Sunday the 2nd of December

This coming Sunday (the 2nd of December) because our home courts are required for a junior tournament we have to move ‘off shore’.

We will be playing at Belrose courts which are in Glen Street close to the library.

Directions: Starting at the junction of Forest Way and Warringah Road drive up
Forest Way to the 3rd set of traffic lights, turn left into Glen street drive approximately 1 kilometre. Glen Street theatre will be on your left. On your right is a cul-de-sac leading to Belrose library. Park and take a very short walk to the tennis courts.

Note the courts are not visible from the road, they are behind the Glenrose shops which are under construction.

Spreading the Word

It has been brought to my attention that this web site is starting to slip off the search results at Google and other search engines. I have started to make some changes that will hopefully fix that and make us a bit more prominent. But I need some help from the members as well.

I have created us a Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/WakehurstTennisClub but this is rather bare at the moment. If you are a Facebook member please ‘like’ the page and feel free to post messages on it. This web site will remain the definitive site for the club but having a presence on Facebook will help potential members find us more easily. Both this site and the Facebook page will be more appealing with more information on them. Likewise if you would like to help write articles or post announcements on this web site please let either Alan or Andy know at the courts.

The second thing that we need is a good photo. We can then use it on this site and the Facebook page. If anyone has a good photo please forward it to Andy or come and talk to me at the courts. Even if you don’t have a photo but have a great idea for something that would represent us please come and talk to Alan, Andy or Warwick.

Round Scorpio

Thank you to everyone who played in the clubs Round Scorpio. We had 24 attendees which is a record for recent years. Special thanks to Lindsay who ran the show at short notice.

The winner of the first group was Lindsay who again passed his prize to
Paul who was runner up, something he has done a number of times. The second group had equal firsts, Dave Weston and Sandra Taylor.

Warwick has been able to book extra court time for Sundays with an extra court available from 10.00 to 12.00. Unfortunately we are unable to change the bookings on Wednesdays as the courts are subject to some long standing permanent bookings.

On the social front Julia has organised a Christmas celebration dinner
at an Elvis pizza restaurant in Rushcutters Bay on Sunday the 9th of December.
If you want more details please talk to Julia at the courts.

November’s end of month (EOM) competition is scheduled for Sunday
the 25th. Further details will be provided nearer the day.
